New Orleans

We arrived in New Orleans yesterday afternoon and are excited to be tagging along with CK for his work trip. Today, while CK was in meetings, Sofia and I explored this great city! We are staying on Canal Street, so are just a short walk to everything, it seems. After we woke up, Sofia and I headed to Cafe Du Monde and stood in line with nearly all the rest of the tourists for our first taste of beignets and chicory coffee. Luckily the line moved quickly and we were soon seated and enjoying! The coffee was outstanding and the beignets were good, although Sofia only had a bite or two because I told her we were getting 'donuts' and I think she expected her usual donut with rainbow sprinkles.... We then headed across the street to Jackson Square so Sofia could run around and I could enjoy my coffee.

Although New Orleans has a well regarded zoo and aquarium, Sofia really wanted to do two things: ride the trolley that we can see from our hotel room, and go on the carriage ride. So, we headed for the carriage ride and met Howard and Shine the mule. We had to wait until the carriage was full, so Howard and Sofia fed Shine treats and I held her up to pet Shine. Soon we were ready to go and we had a great tour throughout the French Quarter.

After our carriage trip, we headed over to the Mississippi River and dipped our toes in then rode the trolley back toward our hotel. After eating lunch near our hotel, we headed back to the room, meet up with Papa, and he and Sofia took a snooze together!

Papa and Sofia cuddle up during story time before bed. I ended up cuddling with her and we both fell asleep. At some point she fell out of bed, which she's never done before, but CK had luckily put the large decorative pillow on the floor, so it was a soft landing.

Looking out our window in the morning - Looking out over Canal Street.

From our other windows - Sofia loved watching the trolley cars go up and down Canal Street

Waiting for beignets, chicory coffee and chocolate milk!

Sofia's first beignet - She had a little mishap with the hot chocolate I originally ordered. It was too hot, so she spit it out.....thus, we switched to chocolate milk. Breakfast of champions!

Sofia really needed to run off some of that sugar, so we returned to Jackson Square and she ran around and played while I finished my coffee.

All set for our carriage ride!

Feeding Shine a treat.

Walking back to the hotel - she LOVES following a line, even if it zigzags!
