The beach, day 2

On our second day at the beach we decided to drive down to Seaside, about an hour away. Seaside is a cute little planned beach town that almost feels fake (it's where they filmed "The Truman Show"). We decided to go to the beach for awhile before having lunch and exploring Seaside, so we found a nice public beach and set out our stuff. Sofia and I played in the sand while CK read his magazine. CK also showed Sofia how to make a cool sand castle (that she later asked if she could smash), and we watched jelly fish in the water (apparently it's their mating season right now). Sofia still wouldn't go into the water but would get somewhat close to it while I fetched water in her buckets. After having a snack and playing in the sand, she laid down on the towel next to me and pulled the extra towel over her completely and fell asleep! She'd had a fever in the evenings and wasn't feeling herself entirely. She slept for about 30 minutes before we woke her up and headed to Seaside for lunch.

Another perk to wearing a swimsuit all day, is that Sofia has been going potty in the toilets, and generally telling us before she needs to go (although we also need to ask her). Unfortunately, we pushed it a little too much and she had an accident inside the toy store at Seaside (the owner was very understanding while I cleaned up and said it happened "all the time"). We had lunch, walked around, found an ice cream stand and headed home with our milkshakes.

Sand castles.....

being smashed!

Walking to the beach - she did get a little closer than that, but not much.

Snoozing under the towel - yes, that white mound is Sofia
