Sofia at 6 months

Well, time really flies! It's hard to believe Sofia is 6 months old today! She went for a check-up on Friday (for the ear infections last month) and weighs 18 lbs 15 oz! She doesn't have her official 6 month check-up (complete with shots) for another few weeks, so I'm not sure how long she is right now. She's a lot of fun and she's really liking her solids. So far she's eaten bananas (likes them a lot), butternut squash (her favorite), avocado (became a fan after the first few bites), carrots (not a huge fan, but likes them mixed with butternut squash), and rice cereal (eats it alright).

Everyone asked if Grandma Fryer could make adult sizes in this outfit!

Sofia's friends

Sofia recently had playdates with two of her closest friends (ok, two of my closest friends and their little ones). Alice, Greyden's mom, is my twice-weekly workout, swimming class, lunch, and/or coffee buddy (usually coffee follows all activities - working out, swimming, lunch, etc). Megan, Aria's mom, is the first MoTH (Moms on The Hill) I met and we regularly meet for coffee, lunch, visits to Dawn Price (local baby store), and luckily she has the same stroller and is able to tell me how to work mine (particularly the rain gear which I put on upside down the first time I used it). Both are fantastic sounding boards for any and all baby issues and we are constantly sharing baby stories. Sandy, the mom to Emily, hasn't been over for a playdate yet but the four of us get together regularly and share baby/life stories. I don't know what I would do without them! Anyway, here are the pictures:

Visiting the Thains

We flew down to visit Joel, Karen, Anja, Calvin and Basil Thain over the long weekend and had a fun and relaxing time with them. It snowed Saturday, so we visited the second largest Whole Foods in the country, tried samples and shopped. It was great fun catching up with the Thains and we look forward to seeing them again in April. Unfortunately we didn't get a group picture with Sofia and the Thain family (something I thought of as we were taking off).

Sofia swims

Sofia had her first swim "lesson" yesterday and she loved it!! She's taking the class with her friend Greyden and about 8 other kids under 16 months. She absolutely loves kicking and splashing the water with her hands and I think swimming may be in her future!

If you're happy and you know it....

One of Sofia's favorite songs is "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands" which we sang to her recently on a 20 minute drive to meet friends for dinner. It actually causes her to be quiet while riding in the car seat! She also likes when CK sings "I'm a little teapot" to her and uses her arms as the 'handle' and 'spout.' She also likes when we sing "Hush little baby" and "Amazing Grace."

Sofia's first solid food

Sofia ate her first solid food, that is if you don't count the vanilla bean gelato CK fed her at 6 weeks or the rice crispy treats and brownie CK gave her over the weekend (all of which she seemed to like). She ate rice cereal for the first time and enjoyed her new food, although she really wanted to use the spoon as a teether. She also tried mashed banana yesterday and ate that down too.

Sofia at 5 months

Sofia's five month picture is a little late since we were in Florida on December 27th. But, I doubt she grew too much in a week! Also, yesterday she started sitting up by herself and NOT falling over after a few minutes. She now loves to sit on the floor or crib and play with toys. One of her favorite games is when I play peekaboo while she sits up in her crib and I pop my head up at different locations around the crib. She giggles and giggles!!

She's recently really started to suck her thumb, particularly before a nap.

Sofia's vacation in Florida

Sofia spent a lot of time hanging out with Grandma so that Mom could recover from her sinus infection, and later so that Mom and Dad could go to the movies, out to meals solo, and go shopping! Sofia spent her 5 month birthday at a Children's clinic and was diagnosed with two ear infections and was put on antibiotics. She rested between playing with Grandma and was back to 100% by New Years. During the two weeks in Florida Sofia rolled over from her back to her tummy (finally!), started blowing bubbles (very funny), discovered that her feet were really great to put in her mouth, has very good manual dexterity, gave wet kisses (mainly to Grandpa), and can almost sit up on her own!! She's also quite the social butterfly - going to anyone and everyone with a smile (unless tired, then watch out!). Its amazing how quickly she's changing and growing.

Christmas 2007

Sofia opened presents on Christmas Eve with Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Jay, Grandma and Grandpa Lee, and us. It was a nice relaxing day, with Sofia enjoying her new Maclaren stroller (for use on such trips) and time with her Aunt, Uncle, Grandma and Grandpa.

Sofia rides her first pony

Sofia was able to take her first pony ride at Charlie and Leslie's house, neighbors of Grandma and Grandpa Lee's. Her pony ride consisted of me holding her while she sat in the saddle and looked around, but she enjoyed petting the pony after. Although she didn't crack a smile (thankfully she didn't cry either), we are sure she'll enjoy a pony ride more in the future!!
