My two readers...

Sofia in Dallas

We traveled to our soon-to-be new home town of Dallas, Texas, for a week from 19-26 April and had a great time house hunting. In fact, we had such a good time that we think we found 'the one'! We'll see how that all plays out though.... Sofia had a fabulous time hanging out with her Grandma Lee and her cousins Jessica, Adam, and Erik. Sofia was fascinated with nearly 3-year old Jessica and they all had fun playing together and going for walks. Here are some pictures from our week (admittedly we didn't take many pictures since we were off looking at houses while Sofia was hanging out with Grandma Lee and the gang.) Sofia's second tooth also started to surface a few days prior to our arrival in Dallas - she's so cute with her two little teeth!

Sofia's first visit to the ocean

While at Cumberland Island, Sofia dipped her toes into the Atlantic Ocean for the first time! She sat in the sand and played for a few minutes before, we rolled up her pants and dipped her toes in. She was ready to dive in and kept trying to reach down to the water. Guess those swimming classes are paying off! Anyway, we hope the next time she's at the ocean it will be a bit warmer and she can dip more than her toes.

Cumberland Island

We had a great time walking on Cumberland Island and Calvin had the extra duty of pushing Sofia's stroller everywhere! When Sofia was being carried, we used the stroller to store our shoes and bag of shells once we reached the beach.

The ruins of Dungeness. Thomas and Lucy Carnegie built this house in 1884 and Lucy and her 9 (yikes) children lived full-time on the island after Thomas died. When the children married, Lucy had a home built nearby for the newlyweds. Surrounding the home was an entertainment hall with a heated swimming pool, squash, a beauty salon, etc, and the children lacked for nothing. This home was the site of a Carnegie-Rockerfeller wedding in the 1950s, and it burned down in 1959. This is virtually the only remains of that time.

St. Mary's, Georgia

On Sunday afternoon, we flew to St. Mary's, Georgia, instead of returning home because the weather was calling for ice and bad weather on our route back to Maryland. So, we decided to fly and meet with Joel, Karen, Anja, Calvin, and Basil to visit St. Mary's and for a trip to Cumberland Island the following day. It was a great decision and we had fun.

Sofia's first boat trip! She actually didn't sleep through the entire experience and seemed to enjoy it.

Sofia and Toby

Sofia fell in love with Devon and Haley's dog Toby and squealed in delight each time she saw Toby in the yard. Needless to say, Toby wasn't so sure of a little girl yanking on his ears and fur, but he was a great sport about it. Here are some pictures from their time together.

Lee Family Reunion

On Friday 11 April we flew to Paul and Lila Thain's house in Reidsville, Georgia, for the Lee Family Reunion. It was a fantastic get together and fun to see how much all the kids have grown over the past year and hear how everyone has been doing. Unfortunately I didn't take many pictures, but here are a few, including the "official" picture taken on Sunday.

Sofia in the Phlox

While at the farm we took some great pictures of Sofia in the phlox growing at the end of the runway. Grandma Lee really had her smiling and took some terrific pictures of her!

more to come....(once I figure out how to get them off the cd)

Visiting Florida

We flew down to Florida on Wednesday 9 April for a few days before flying up to Reidsville, Georgia, for the Lee Family Reunion. It was great to visit with Sofia's Grandma and Grandpa, see her Great Grandma, and enjoy some time in the sun! It was the first time that she didn't wear socks or shoes and she loved it! Here are some pictures - enjoy!

Giggles

Here is a video from 31 January of Sofia prior to her bedtime when she gets a bit punchy. She no longer fits into her Bumbo seat, and now sits up in her highchair like a pro. In this video, she 'discovers' the camera about halfway through, which is funny. Anyway, thought we should share - enjoy!

Happy Baby

I wanted to capture Sofia's reaction to her doll since she always gets very excited, pokes the baby in the eyes and mouth then throws her aside. I'm convinced she thinks the baby is real and when she realizes she isn't she is no longer interested in playing. I turned on the video and had to go in the other room to get her doll and luckily captured one of my favorite things she does - her excited scream with her eyes closed! It is so cute and I didn't even know I had captured it on video! At the end you'll see her love of the telephone which I forgot was next to her, so she lost interest in her doll quickly. Anyway, it's only a minute long so enjoy!

The crawler

Here is a short video of Sofia's attempts to crawl....as you'll see she gets up on her hands and knees easily, but also gets frustrated easily after a short time. It's a lot of work for a little girl!

Movie Star!

Here are some cute pictures of Sofia with her "movie star" sunglasses on....Enjoy!
