Visiting Decatur

On Saturday, CK flew Sofia and I to visit a colleague for lunch in Dacatur, TX. It was a good chance to see how Sofia would handle flying since we haven't taken her up in the Baron in several months. She was a bit hesitant when CK first started up the Baron, but very quickly became focused on looking outside the window and watching as the view changed when we took flight. She wouldn't keep her headset over her ears, but seemed just as happy playing with her books and toys as usual. Here are some pictures from our trip!

Baby-free weekend!!!!

We had SUCH a wonderful baby-free weekend in Austin and Grandma and Grandpa Fryer (and Sofia) survived the weekend as well! The best part of the long weekend was walking around Austin, visiting the Capitol building - which we walked right into without even so much as a security check!, touring the LBJ Ranch, and visiting the very cute town of Fredericksburg, in the Hill Country. Although CK and I did have fun together, we found ourselves starting a lot of conversations with "Sofia is so cute when...." We missed her, but enjoyed the weekend so much! Oh, and when we got back we found she didn't really miss us at all....

Eating...

Sofia's Grandma and Grandpa Fryer came to town to spend the long weekend with Sofia so we could go to Austin for a baby-free weekend (more on that later). Before we left for our weekend, Grandma fed Sofia, which Sofia wanted to do for herself...here are some pictures:

Leaving Florida

Here are some pictures from our last day at Grandma and Grandpa Lee's house:

Ducks!

On Wednesday afternoon, Sofia and I visited a nearby neighborhood that has a nice duck pond. We walked around the pond and fed the ducks - Sofia prefered to eat the bread herself instead of sharing, so she watched me feed the ducks! Later, the ducks came right up to her expecting more food and Sofia wanted to pet them. She enjoyed watching the ducks and geese fly and paddle around the pond, however, the real excitement happened when a boy riding his bike came by with his labrador named "Mocha." Sofia took off after the "puppy" so fast I could hardly keep up. Mocha showered Sofia with kisses and loved the attention. Here are some pictures:

Sofia and Coco

Sofia had a big adventure on Sunday afternoon when we went to the neighbors across the road, Charlie and Leslie, to "ride" their pony Coco! Coco shares his pasture with the donkey Don Quixote, who was happy to have Sofia pat his neck. Sofia loved to touch Coco's mane and pat his neck, but wasn't a huge fan of touching his nose or face and was a little leary every time Coco turned toward her. It was great fun and we hope to have more chances to ride Coco. We also bought Sofia her first pair of Wranglers at the Cowboy Super Store (that is honestly the name of the store) for her big horse ride adventure. Here she is:

Stretching out her new Wranglers! They are a bit tight in the hip/belly region, but so cute!

A Day in the Life...

Since my last post, Sofia has recovered from her stomach virus just in time for me to come down with it! Luckily it struck me Friday night, so CK and Sofia hung out the entire weekend while I stayed in bed. Also since my last post, our computer's hard drive crashed, and despite what you may watch on those detective shows, information isn't always recoverable from a crashed hard drive. We lost everything, including nearly all of our pictures of Sofia. I'm still upset, but now we know to regularly back-up our information.....

Anyway, moving on! I wanted to show a day in the life of Sofia and chose today to do it. So, here is a glimpse into Sofia's life! She's walking so well and can really move along quickly so I need to keep an eye on her, especially when we are out. CK calls her my Shadow since she is nearly always underfoot. We have so much fun together and it's great now that she's walking because she explores so much more (and I don't have to carry her everywhere!). So, here is a day in Sofia's life....

One of her favorite things - helping Mama unload the clean dishes (luckily she sticks to the silverware). Note where she put her puppy - very cute!

Breakfast! Her favorite part of the day! Here she's eating scrambled eggs, toast and apple sauce. She loves french toast, pancakes, yogurt and just about anything to do with her first meal. She hasn't been a huge milk fan so I just started adding a little chocolate to it and that's changed everything!

After we both got dressed, we had to take the computer to the Genius Bar at Apple to reload some programs. She LOVES computers, especially pressing all those keys on the keyboard. Here she is at one of the kid's stations

After fixing the computer, we decided to walk over to a little pizza place and grab lunch. The computer took longer than expected and we also walked around the Town Center and ran a few other errands (Sofia napped during this time, but she was in the carrier, so no picture - using the carrier is something that is getting harder to do as she weighs more!)

At lunch - splitting a pizza! Yum!

After lunch, we ran a few more errands then headed back home. Sofia played in her room while I did stuff around the house. She usually plays with her books, but she also loves to try and figure out how things work.

Mid-afternoon is snack time and ironically since Sofia's illness her very favorite treat are Saltines! She gets down right giddy when I ask if she wants a cracker and sees me produce one from the bag! Here she is in motion in the kitchen. Eating on the go!

After her snack and before CK returns home, we walk to the mailbox every day, and often decide to take a walk down our street. Today it had rained, so she liked to touch the wet grass.

After supper (I forgot to take a picture), CK takes over and gives her bath - another of her favorites. She loves to splash around and play with her tub toys. Here she and her Papa had just been playing peek-a-boo with the wash cloth

Story time! Sofia curls up with her puppy and her thumb and listens to her regular stories from Papa before going to bed. Sweet dreams! Tomorrow at approximately 6 am it will all begin again!
