Sofia at 10 months

Yesterday Sofia turned 10 months! It probably was not her best birthday to remember though....she had a 104 degree fever on Sunday that carried over into Monday and was 102.4 on Tuesday. I took her to the doctor who indicated she likely has a virus called hand-foot-and-mouth disease (luckily the cure isn't the same as it was for all those poor cows in England). However, the doctor also wanted to rule out a bladder infection, which wasn't very pleasant for Sofia.

Today she is feeling much better and really starting to crawl! CK watched her crawl across the kitchen floor on Monday morning and yelled for me (I was sleeping in a bit which was lovely). I missed her big crawling debut, but she's done it a little every day since. She's still very cautious and flops to her belly as soon as she's made it to her destination, but she's finally crawling!!

It's finally shorts weather (sort of)!

Well, it's late May and it hasn't really been warm in DC yet. We've had warm weather here and there, and today was one of those lovely 70-something, breezy, clear skied days. Perfect for shorts! Alice, Grayden, Sofia and I met in Bethesda, MD, to explore a new area other than the Hill. Grayden had a doctor's appointment for an ear infection (poor Bumby) and after he got checked out and medicated, we had lunch and walked around. We went to the Wiggle Room, a baby/kid's clothes consignment shop (which would be perfect on the Hill these days!!) and I bought a few shorts in anticipation for warm days. So, today was the first day Sofia paraded her new jean shorts! Here are some pics.

Look at those legs - so cute!

Here is a picture of Sofia starting to crawl! She takes a few movements forward before going down onto her belly! At least she's moving forward now!

Here is some breakfast snaps! She is still wearing her pj's (and Florida Gator's big).

She's so cute!

Ok, no real reason for these pictures other than I just couldn't resist! Yesterday was a beautiful day and Sofia and I went across the street to the playground. She was so cute and I went a little crazy taking pictures! Here she is with her favorite sweater (Grandma Fryer hand-embroidered) and the house/car keys. Sofia just started waving "hello" and "goodbye" to people (after a little coaxing)! She really loves to wave to herself in the mirror. I'll have to capture her waving on video. I know I'm not biases, but she's so cute!

Sofia and Grayden go to Ikea

On Friday, we all went to Ikea and the babies had a fun time, as usual, being pushed around in the shopping cart. Here are some pics.

Here are some more pictures of Grayden and Sofia at the park! She's wearing a Grandma Fryer original reversible dress and matching bloomers - such a stylish gal!

One of their favorite 'games' is to try and yank the toy the other is holding - so here they are trying to take control of the duck toy

And Sofia is the winner this time (but she also had two hands!)

Grayden now has the duck toy

Ladies (and babies) who lunch

Last week the ladies took me to an early farewell lunch at the Tabard Inn in Dupont Circle. It was such a fantastic meal and it had been a long time since the four of us (and babies) were able to be together. They each did a scrapbook page of things we have done together since we met! Such a great keep sake and I can't wait to add it to Sofia's scrapbook (which is in storage right now).

Mother's Day

On Saturday we went out to lunch with Uncle Steve, Aunt Shirl, Alice, Joe, Grayden, and Joe's visiting brother Mike. We went out to Old Angler's Inn, which was a nice change and a beautiful drive. Sunday we joined Uncle Steve and Aunt Shirl at their yard sale (a little late), but there weren't many buyers to be found, so we didn't get rid of much. We made heuvos rancheros before going on the House and Garden Tour, where we looked at local houses and got rained on. Mom and Joseph stayed home with a snoozing Sofia, which was really one of the best Mother's Day gifts! CK and Sofia gave me an engraved frame with a picture of Sofia and I and an engraved box to remember my first Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Weekend

Grandma and Grandpa Fryer arrived Tuesday before Mother's Day for a weeks visit and Sofia had a grand time playing with them. Sofia and Grandma played with the baby doll and she can actually say "Baby" pretty well and responds when you ask who the doll is! Grandma showed up with a suitcase FULL of new dresses and outfits for Sofia! They are each amazing pieces of art really and I plan on taking pictures of Sofia in each one.

Sofia also started standing with support and removes one hand and often both (but just for a second or two). She still enjoys rolling around on the ground, but doesn't get up on her hands and knees as much. Unfortunately, I was sick with a sinus infection for most of Mom and Joseph's visit, but I felt much better after the first few days they were here and really appreciated the naps I got while they played with Sofia. On Friday Sofia had her 9 month appointment, where she weighed 20 lbs even and measures 28 1/2 inches tall! She's growing up so fast! Here are some pictures.

Take me out to the ball game....

Today we went with Alice, Joe, Grayden and Aunt and Uncle to watch the Nationals play in their new stadium (they won!). It was such a perfectly beautiful day for a baseball game and we had a lot of fun (and no sunburns)! Here are some pictures from our day.

The view from our seats..

Random Pictures

Here are some cute pictures of Sofia that I thought should be enjoyed by more then just us!

Sofia finds her toes! These pictures were taken after swim class two weeks ago, when it turned from a cool day into a nice warm sunny day. I removed Sofia's shoes and socks while Alice and I had lunch and Sofia had the best time playing with her feet. She also enjoys playing with them now while we change her diaper. It's very cute.

Sofia's new hat! Grandma Fryer made Sofia an amazing sun hat and matching outfit! She loves her hat a lot, especially playing with the ties!

Sofia and one of her favorite toys -the crab! This is a bath toy that Sofia takes everywhere with her because it is perfect for chewing on anytime!

Sofia at 9 months

Sofia turned 9 months last Sunday and I didn't have a chance to take her picture until today, so here she is on her 9 month and 5h day! She's wearing a Grandma Fryer original dress (it's FINALLY warm enough to wear it!). Unfortunately, Sofia is fighting a cold and a terrible ear infection in her left ear (the right is slightly infected too), but she's on the mend. She's still trying to figure out crawling and her new favorite is to stand up and hold on to anything. In fact, she loves to stand outside her exersaucer and play, instead of sitting in it! She also loves to stand in her crib, although she hasn't learned how to pull herself up yet thankfully! Here are her 9 month pictures. Also, she weighs 19.5 lbs, which is the same as she weighed at her 6 month appointment. She is definitely getting longer though!

Playing with her exersaucer

Standing in her crib! Look who's the big girl! I play a game with her when I stand her up where I turn around and then ask "Who's the big girl?" and she gets excited, smiles, and laughs. I think she is very proud of her new skill.
