On Sunday June 7th we took the scenic drive from Santa Fe to Taos, which was really beautiful and we were shocked at how completely different the area looked from where we hiked over the past week. We stopped at Chimayo at the Santuario, where a Mass was in progress, so we stayed outside and enjoyed the area. CK commented on how it felt as if we were in Spain or France and not necessarily in America because of the feel of the area around the Santuario. After leaving Chimayo, we drove through Truchas, Las Trampas, Tesuque and several other tiny towns, but didn't stop until we made it to Taos. It was an amazingly beautiful drive and the scenery looked more like Colorado than what we ever considered New Mexico!
Once in Taos we walked around the Plaza, Sofia had a little pony ride, we window shopped, and then we visited a great toy store/play area called "Twirl" where Sofia ran around and got a little steam out for a while.
