Fourth of July

On the morning of 4th of July, we planned to go up to the Plaza for Pancakes on the Plaza with Aunt and Uncle, as we did last year. However, CK was sick with a fever and felt terrible, so he stayed behind and slept while Olivia, Sofia and I headed up to the Plaza with Aunt and Uncle. We arrived around 9am and the line for pancakes was long and the plaza was packed with people! Uncle Steve set up the chairs in the shade and 'baby sat' while Aunt Shirl and I waited in line for pancakes. While we waited, I headed to Starbucks for a cup of coffee for Aunt and I (it was free, too. Who knew?!) We finally made it up to the pancakes and were back at Uncle Steve before we knew it. While we were waiting, Sofia and Uncle Steve found "the balloon guy," who made a balloon flower for Sofia (she was his first costumer of the day too).

We enjoyed our pancakes and coffees and before long Sofia had found a friend to play with on the grass. She also visited the coloring tent and colored a "Pancakes on the Plaza" page. We relaxed on the Plaza for awhile before packing up and visiting the car show on our way back to the casita to check on CK. Aunt and Uncle returned to their casita and got ready for their drive to the Great Sand Dunes National Park on their way to Ft. Collins.

The rest of the day, we relaxed quietly in the casita and took care of our sick patient. In the afternoon, the girls and I headed up to the Plaza for a walk and to get outside for a bit. While we were heading back to the casita it started raining, so we ducked into the pizza place for an early dinner and to allow the rain to blow over.

Since CK was feeling so bad and since Olivia is usually well asleep by 9pm, when the fireworks were to start, we decided to forgo fireworks this year. It felt odd not to celebrate the 4th with fireworks, but there's always next year and hopefully everyone is healthy then!
