Sofia's First Nutcracker!

Last night Sofia and I went with our friends Thelma and Isabella to see The Nutcracker in Fort Worth. We bought the tickets a few weeks prior and frankly I didn't expect much because it was put on by the North Central Ballet group which includes kids from 5 to 17 years old. Plus, we got a great deal on the tickets which made me wonder whether it may not be that great of a performance.

We decided to make a fun night of it and left the babies with our husbands while we headed into Ft Worth early for dinner together. We ate at Fireside Pies, which is an upscale pizza place that is fantastic. The night start with Sofia breaking her water glass and getting drenched and then demanding that she change clothes.....which we didn't have. I dried her off as much as I could and luckily our food arrived while we were in the bathroom getting dry, so that took her mind off of it. By the time we were done eating, her dress was dry and everything was fine. Once we finished dinner we realized we had over an hour and were only a few minutes away from the Will Rogers Center! So, we decided to visit the Pier 1 headquarters building which decorates every tree with a different color and must use thousands of lights! It was amazing! We drove around a few times and then decided to head to the ballet to get settled.

We made it into the auditorium and found our seats which were just a few rows from the stage and really great. The girls took pictures by a nutcracker statue and then settled into their seats for the ballet. I read the storyline to the girls before the show started so they would have an idea of what was happening.

The ballet started and Sofia was completely amazed! She sat on my lap so she could see better and we were both impressed with the quality of the ballet. It was incredible how good the dancers were, especially the young ones who did a great job! It was such a special night and I loved that Sofia enjoyed the ballet! I was a little afraid that she'd be bored or wouldn't enjoy it.

We headed home, dropped Thelma and Isabella off and headed home. As we drove, Sofia asked if we could go every year and thanked me for taking her to such a fun night.

Isabella and Sofia all dressed up for the ballet

Two excited gals!
