Decorating Gingerbread Houses at School

This morning Sofia's class decorated gingerbread houses and Piper's Mom Bonnie, Allen's mom Casey, and I helped out. Mrs. Patterson set up "stations" around the classroom so that while six kids decorated gingerbread houses, the other 11 kids could decide what they wanted to work on. The gingerbread houses were actually made out of graham crackers glued to small milk cartons which was really a great idea. We put out frosting and candy for decorating and the kids got started.

It was really a lot of fun to watch the kids decorate their individual gingerbread houses. Some kids put a few candies on haphazardly and were done while others put layers of candy on top of layers before they were finished. They were all very focused on their houses and had fun decorating. As kids finished up, we'd get an undecorated house and someone who hadn't decorated their house yet to get started. I took pictures of each child and their finished house which we'll be using for our Holiday Party in a few weeks. We finished decorating the houses and cleaning up just before lunch and I stayed and had lunch with Sofia in the cafeteria. After lunch, I said goodbye to Sofia and headed home. It was so fun to be with Sofia and her classmates and they are all such sweet and fun kids.

All ready to decorate!

Sofia makes a snowman

It was a great idea, but ultimately wouldn't stay up...so the snowman later became three bushes

All finished with her house!

At lunch....
