Santa Fe Thanksmas

We arrived safely in Santa Fe on Wednesday afternoon and met Aunt and Uncle at one of my favorite places, Bubble Bee Baja Grill which is a healthy fast food Mexican restaurant that serves great food. So delicious! After catching up with Aunt and Uncle and talking about our days ahead together, we made our way to our casita and unpacked.

After we got settled, we drove past the airport to a friend of Aunt and Uncle's who has horses, ponies, chickens, wild turkeys, cats and probably many other animals. Horatio and Roberto had a pony saddled up and ready to ride for Sofia which she was really excited about, but then said "I want to ride a real horse" (luckily she said this in the car and not in front of them). All the horses at her horse camp were regular size and she later learned why. Roberto led her around for awhile before CK decided to give him a break. The pony was pretty skittery and while they were down the way from us, the pony freaked out and Sofia slid off and landed in a pile! CK later told me that as he tried to get control of the pony and couldn't he told Sofia to let go and fall off, which she did. She actually held on for quite a while and when she got off the ground she was pretty upset. But, once we told her she wasn't hurt she quickly stopped crying and decided to get right back on the pony! She then announce "At least I didn't land in horse poop!" which is a good point!

Roberto took over leading the pony and away they went down the road. Poor Roberto got a serious walk in while he lead the pony and Sofia all over the place! Once it started to get dark we thanked Horatio and Roberto and headed back to the casitas and dinner. Sofia had a fantastic time and I'm sure it was the highlight of her trip! Aunt Shirl made a delicious pork meal and we had a great time unwinding and catching up.

Playing with Aunt and Uncle's chalk board in the their kitchen - a real favorite. She loved playing "hang man" and having us guess what the word was (it was either "Horses" or "Frog")

Off they go!
