ICE!!

On Saturday CK surprised us by taking us for a little trip that ended at the Gaylord Texan, which I then knew must be a visit to ICE! I suspected he was taking us to Bass Pro Shop, but was pleasantly surprised to be wrong. He said we had tickets for the 11am entrance, so we quickly walked through the beautiful atrium (even past the trains) and made it to the ICE exhibit (along with the rest of North Texas). It was a long wait, but well worth it. Everything in the exhibit is carved from ice by Chinese artists brought over specifically to create each year's show. This year's theme was Charlie Brown, which made it really fun. So far Sofia only knows about Charlie Brown through the morning comics which we read nearly every morning over breakfast. Maybe next year we'll have to watch Charlie Brown's Christmas, which I remember watching growing up.

Before entering the exhibit, everyone is given a thick blue jacket since it is between 14 and 18 degrees inside to ensure the ice stays shiny and doesn't melt. The jacket worked really well and only my fingers were slightly cold by the end of the exhibit. Once inside, Sofia wanted to touch absolutely everything and of course we had been told not to touch anything..... It was a pretty amazing exhibit, especially when you realize that absolutely everything is carefully carved from ice!

Heading toward the Gaylord Texan holding a flower for Papa and Green Beup Beup (of course)....

ICE!

All suited up and ready to go in!

Papa keeps Green Beup Beup warm!

Snoopy on his dog house with a stack of (ice) bones.

The whole Peanuts gang (there were an amazing amount of people, so I had to take what pictures I could while we walked.....)

Sofia loves it!

Having fun! (We're in line for the ice slide).

After the exhibit, we watched the trains for awhile before heading to lunch.
