Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! We decided to have a super low-key yet fun New Year's Eve. We invited two different couples, Kristy and John and their girls Sierra and Alexa as well as Jeff and Julie and their girls, Hannah and Chloe to come spend the evening with us. Hannah was at another party with kids her age, so it was just Chloe with Jeff and Julie. Everyone brought a heavy appetizer and we had pizza for the kids. The kids played and watched movies while we hung out and talked. CK built a fire outside and we actually spent a long time enjoying it and talking, thankful it wasn't too cold out. Meanwhile, Olivia felt "left out" since there was no one her age to play with, so she face-timed with her cousin Sam, who is one of her very favorite people in her life. I think they face-timed for at least two hours of the night. He lives in Oregon, so he was two hours behind us on celebrating.

We watched the ball drop in NYC at 11pm our time and toasted each other and wished each other a happy and healthy 2019! Everyone lingered briefly before heading home. CK and I finished up the dishes, so technically we were up past midnight. Meanwhile, the girls were total opposites. Sofia was so exhausted she wanted to sleep on the couch and could hardly get up the stairs to go to bed while Olivia was literally running around the house singing and laughing. Normally those roles are reversed. They both went to bed easily and I know Sofia was asleep within a minute. I'm pretty sure Olivia was asleep quickly too. They both slept in this morning, which is nice and we are ready for a great year ahead! Happy 2019!
