Carving Pumpkins

Since it's been raining so much over the past few weeks, we've had a really hard time being able to carve pumpkins. We were hoping to carve them while Pancho and Sam were visiting, and CK bought 3 pumpkins so the girls could carve them with their favorite Sammy! Unfortunately, we didn't find time to carve them while they were visiting, so I finally decided we had to carve them today after school, or we wouldn't have jack-o-lanterns for Halloween.

Of course, I picked up Sofia from school and she announced that she had "hours and hours" of homework and there would be no time to carve pumpkins. Of course, once Sofia sat down and started working on her homework she realized that she would only need maybe an hour or so to finish her work. So she sat down and worked hard for an hour and then took a break so the girls could carve their pumpkins. Each girl picked out a pumpkin and we got busy. Olivia doesn't really love having "stuff" on her hands, but she actually helped to clean out her own pumpkin, and then had to go inside and wash her hands. But, it's a lot more than she did last year. Once Olivia was done cleaning out her pumpkin, she took the Sharpie and started drawing on her jack-o-lantern's face. Sofia was still focused on cleaning out her pumpkin. Once she was satisfied with her drawing, I used the knife to cute out her jack-o-lantern face! Originally she'd drawn a lot of teeth, but thankfully she said she didn't actually want her jack-o-lantern to have any teeth! I'm pretty sure I couldn't have cut them out anyway. Once I was finished, her jack-o-lantern really looked cute and she was really happy with it. Meanwhile, Sofia drew her jack-o-lantern face on and I cut hers out too. It looked super cute and I took pictures of both girls with their pumpkins!

After both girls were done carving their pumpkins, Olivia wanted to take pictures with my camera, which I've showed her how to use properly and she's become pretty decent at capturing photos. Sofia put on her wireless headphones and listened to music while she danced around outside. Olivia actually got some cute photos of her dancing. We were so glad we took the time to carve our pumpkins! Once it was dark, we put candles in the jack-o-lantern and they looked great! Happy Halloween!
