Day Five: Heading Home

On our flight home, we decided to fly over Monument Valley. We ate a quick breakfast in the hotel restaurant and then headed to the airport where we loaded up the Baron and started on our route home. Shortly after taking off, we were flying over Mesa Verde and could see some of the dwellings, which was pretty cool. We continued on toward Monument Valley and the terrain turned more unique and interesting and almost looked like another planet! It was spectacular and so great to be able to see it from above.

We arrived at Monument Valley, which also looks surreal and not of this planet, and CK was able to fly really low and weave around the incredible buttes! It was so beautiful and we flew right between two buttes which was equally exciting and terrifying. I couldn't take enough photos! We flew around twice and then headed to fly over Canyon De Chelly so we could do a fly over. Just as we were leaving the last buttes at Monument Valley, Olivia started complaining that her stomach hurt and was getting upset. I had her sit up on her chair and within a minute she was completely asleep! I couldn't believe it! She literally just fell asleep with her neck in a terrible position, but at least she wasn't sick. She ended up sleeping for nearly two hours!

We flew over Canyon De Chelly, which was also a very impressive landscape and almost looked like a smaller version of the Grand Canyon. It must be really impressive to be able to be down next to or in it. It was beautiful and incredible and we took a bunch of photos while we flew over.

The rest of the trip home went smoothly and we stopped in Plainview, Texas to refuel and go to the bathroom. Both girls had taken long naps and were full of energy in Plainview. After we stretched our legs for a few minutes, we loaded back up and were soon landing in Arlington. It was a nice smooth flight and as much as we enjoyed being home, it was such a fun trip to Durango!
