Papa's Little Girl

Sofia has so many of her Papa's traits that I often have to ask myself if she and I are related (OK, not really)! I wanted to capture a few of the ways she is like him....

1) She LOVES books and would rather read than do anything else. As anyone who has seen CK's office, his night stand and the boxes in our upstairs closet can attest, there is a serious love of books going on in our house! Of course CK prefers history and flight-related books, while Sofia prefers "Curious George" (her current favorite), "If the Moon Could Talk," "Baboon," "Madeline," "Violet the Pilot," and her "Bear Snores On" series.

Multi-tasking! Reading and riding her horsie in late March

Hanging out on her favorite reading chair (in mid-January)

2) She loves airplanes and enjoys flying. Although she doesn't show the adoration that CK has (yet!), she always points them out when they fly overhead (she points and shouts "flying!!"), wants to watch "airplane" videos on youtube and loves to make "Baron" noises around the house. She also enjoys flying in Papa's Baron or on a commercial plane (this means a little reading and then a big nap).

Her other favorite kind of flying....

All set to fly (in late Sept)

3) She's a talker and a social butterfly! Similar to her Papa, Sofia doesn't know a stranger and loves to make the rounds at any public location. She's been known to join people at their table and hang out until we have to basically drag her away. She also is very verbal for her age and when she isn't saying something I can understand, she's usually babbling about something in a language only she can understand.

Showing us where something is!

Ok, so she isn't talking here, but it's such a cute picture!

4) She's adventuresome. On of our favorite traits of our little girl is her fearlessness of trying anything and her wonder lust at the world around her. We also love the fact that we travel all over the country with her and she just rolls with everything that comes her way. Right now we try to nurture her interest in everything, especially the outdoors.

5) She doesn't like things (dirt/food) on her hands. Sofia is a bit of her Papa's daughter when it comes to having things on her hands. Whenever we are playing outside, going for a walk, or at the pond, Sofia will often stop, look down at her hands and say "Dirt!." I'm still trying to convince her that she can brush it off and that "dirt doesn't hurt" but she still pauses whenever her hands are dirty.

Thinking to herself "Ick!"

With her Papa, after a bath and before story time and bed...their favorite time together.
