Spring Break Day 2: Cat Island

We woke up on Sunday and stayed for Meeting so we could see CK's Uncle George along with Harold, Patsy and Amelia. It was great to see everyone else too! We visited for a bit and then loaded up in the Baron after hugging Grandpa and Grandma goodbye. We flew to Fort Pierce, which is only an hour or so from the farm. We had lunch at the Tiki Hut, filled up the plane with gas and got ready to go to the islands. When it was time to leave, it was pretty windy yet the flight was smooth. Both girls were having trouble with their ears, so we bought a few packets of gum before we left, which ended up being very helpful. It was a little cloudy heading to Cat Island, so Olivia and I slept for a while so we would be well rested for vacation. The flight went very quickly and we arrived around 4pm! It was so terrific to finally be on Cat Island and the weather was absolutely perfect!

We landed and pushed the plane back and unloaded all of our bags and ice chest full of snacks. It's always interesting how little the Bahamians care about what we bring to Cat Island. We had an ice chest of snacks and goodies with us, and they never considered looking in it to see what we could have with us. Our bags were taken to our waiting taxi, while we cleared Customs, which is pretty easy and fast. Once we were done, we jumped into the taxi with our driver, named Olive and she drove us to Fernandez Bay Village. It's only about a 5 minutes drive and it was so fantastic to be back at FBV and at Beach House, the same house we stayed in last year. We took a few minutes to unpack and get settled into our rooms and the girls were in the water in minutes. Of course, they went straight into the water in their clothes! Just as we finished unpacking, Chip, Lisa and Charlie came walking down the beach! Such perfect timing!

A few months ago, CK emailed Chip to see if he and his family would like to join us at FBV over Spring Break. We'd had so much fun last year when we met them and they are such a fun couple and family and we loved how much the girls enjoyed playing with Charlie. So, we were super excited when they agreed to join us! We looked forward to a fun week with them.

Charlie and the girls swam and played in the sand until just before it was dinner time. Sofia literally waited until dinner was served before she showered and joined us. She turns into a fish when we are at the islands or the beach. For dinner, CK and I sat with Chip and Lisa while the girls sat with Charlie at the table next to us. Dinner was excellent and included a delicious green salad and fried conch! One of my favorite dinners they serve. Actually, everything they serve at FBV is delicious and fresh and we look forward to some great meals in between hanging out on the beach, snorkeling and kayaking! Spring Break has begun!
