Heading Home after a FUN Week!

We originally planned on leaving Saturday afternoon, but decided to head home Saturday morning since Mr. Chreno, who has helped both girls learn how to read in Kindergarten, was having a 70th birthday party that we'd been invited to attend that evening. So, it felt like a very quick trip but we also had a lot of fun in our short time together. The girls are at a great age and they both really connected with Aunt and Uncle together and individually and I love how much they enjoying being with each other. They aren't the girls "real" Grandma and Grandpa on my side, but I like to think of them as that and they have been great at stepping into that role.

Saturday morning we all got up a little earlier than we normally would have, packed up our things and drove into town to enjoy breakfast at The Plaza Cafe, one of our favorites. Their Mexican hot chocolate or mocha is one of the best and I always order it when we go there. Plus, their breakfast tacos, pancakes and huevos rancheros are delicious! We enjoyed one last meal together and talked about the upcoming months and plans we have for travel and work.

We said our goodbyes with hugs and kisses and look forward to seeing each other again. Santa Fe is such a special place and my Aunt and Uncle always have such fun things for us to do or explore. This trip was short but so much fun. We loved Meow Wolf and we all agreed that we must visit again next time we're in Santa Fe so we can see even more of the creative and amazing interactive art.

We headed to the airport, packed up the Baron and loaded up for the trip home. Of course, Olivia took a long nap while I stayed up and read my book. There was a big storm that has obviously gone through the DFW area before we arrived, so the ground was very wet. We made it home, unpacked and cleaned up before heading to Mr. Chreno's birthday bash which was held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bedford. Unfortunately, due to the storm that had gone through the area, the power was out at the Knights of Columbus Hall and the surrounding blocks! I felt terrible for Mr. Chreno, even though the party went on and they did a great job of continuing along. Christy had made a slide show that played on her computer and Sofia helped Alexa serve food that was brought in from Costa Vida and which was really delicious. Unfortunately, it did continue to get progressively hotter inside the room and the alarm system never stopped beeping, although it was a noise we got used to after a bit. We stayed until around 9pm when it started to get dark out and we were all very tired from our trip (and hot from sitting in the room). We said goodbye to Mr. Chreno and wished him the best birthday every. He's such a fantastic man and has helped so many kids learn to read as well as volunteering at the senior center and through his church.

We headed home and went to bed after a long, but very fun, day.
