Grandma and Grandpa Visit

Last Friday Grandpa and Grandma arrived at our house! The girls were so excited and Olivia actually woke up a few mornings before they arrived at 5am thinking that it was the day they would be at our house. They arrived just Friday afternoon, after the girls got home and before Olivia's last soccer game. They settled into the guest room before we headed to the field for Olivia's soccer game. Olivia ended up scoring five goals during the game, which I think is more than she's ever scored before! She was so excited and loved having her grandparents watching her. After soccer we headed to meet Marcie and Sophie at Hart 8, which is always a favorite of CK Sr's. As always the BBQ was great and it was fun to catch up with everyone.

On Saturday Sofia had her last soccer game in the morning, which we watched and cheered even though they got badly beaten as they have every game this season. It's been a tough season for the Pink Pirates and we are all a little happy the season is over. Thankfully at the end of the game Coach Jeff announced that he would be returning to be coach. He originally thought Chloe would want to play Select soccer next season, but she decided to continue playing for the Pink Pirates. That night we grilled and at steaks which is always our favorite Saturday night plan. The girls loved jumping on the trampoline and making up "plays" that Grandma had to watch. They love to perform, especially with Grandma in the audience.

On Sunday we went to Meeting at Al and Jill's and ended up having lunch with them at P.F. Chang's, which is one of Connie's favorite restaurants. We wanted to be sure that they both got a chance to get a meal they both really liked. After our lunch, we drove out to Lewisville to the MCL Grand Theatre to watch The Lion King! My friend Stephanie's son, Patrick acts in a lot of different plays and played the part of young Simba in this production. The play was really outstanding with great acting, singing, props and costumes! It was so fun and the girls were completely entranced! They both absolutely loved it! After the play, the girls were eager to meet the cast and they loved seeing Patrick, who they have met several times before when he's played different parts. It was so much fun and I was surprised at how much the girls really loved it and were totally engaged the entire play. That night we had pizza and just hung out.

On Tuesday after I dropped the girls off at school, Connie and I drove to Waco to visit the Silos at Magnolia Market. We were both really excited to check it out. The drive went smoothly and it was only about 90 minutes until we arrived and we found a great parking spot about a block from the silos. It was before 9am and it was already full of people! After we arrived, we took a few selfies and then split a cinnamon roll and had two coffees from the bakery. The bakery is adorable and all the pastries look delicious. The cinnamon roll was great and just what we needed after our drive. We were given a map of the location and told to visit the silos and then just walk around and explore. We followed their suggestion and were so impressed by how beautiful the location is and how many friendly people work there to help direct and answer questions. Inside the silos are a lot of decorations for sale in Chip and Joanna's style, although with hats, t-shirts, magazines and other Magnolia Market goods. After poking around, we headed to the garden center, which was awesome. The entire area is so cozy and comfortable and it feels like a fun place to bring the kids and just hang out for the day. After we took a lot of pictures and looked around, we were told by the staff of a free tram that would take us to several stops around Waco where we could get off and explore other furniture stores, restaurants, and shops. We took the tram and stopped off at Spice Village, which was recommended to us by several of the ladies on the tram. It was a huge shopping area with clothes, home decorations, olive oils, and just about everything in between. We ended up buying some olive oil and flavored vinegars and then ended up having lunch at The Olive Branch, which was just below Spice Village. It was good and simple food. After lunch, we returned to the silos and stood in line to buy cupcakes for everyone at home. Of everything I'd heard about Magnolia Market, I'd heard their cupcakes were amazing. That night after dinner we tried the cupcakes and were not disappointed! They were delicious! The Silos at Magnolia Market were really cool to visit and the experience of just being there is worth it. CK and I talked about going on the Friday before Memorial Day, since the girls have the day off school.

On Wednesday, I took Grandpa and Grandma to school to meet with Olivia for lunch. We arrived at the cafeteria a few minutes after the kindergarteners arrived for lunch and she was waiting patiently for us to arrive. She was so excited when she saw us and gave us all a big hug. She wanted Grandpa and Grandma to sit on either side of her and I sat across from her. After lunch, we walked Olivia to her classroom so Grandpa and Grandma could get a look at her class and see which table she sat at for class. We each gave her a big hug and then headed to meet CK for lunch at Black Walnut. After lunch, CK took Grandpa and Grandma back to school to meet Sofia for her lunch while I headed to tennis. She loves having us visit for lunch and really loved having Grandpa and Grandma there.

On Thursday, after we dropped the girls off at school we drove down to Dallas all together to visit CK's new office and then to lunch. I haven't yet been to his new office space, so it was fun to visit and see his view, even though he actually works quiet a lot from the house now. His work space is comfortable and has a great view of the city. After we hung out in his office, we drove to Park City Club to have lunch. CK recently become a member of the club which he uses for business meetings. I was just as excited to go as his parents were. The view from the club is amazing! It offers a daily lunch buffet and an option to order off the menu. We chose the buffet which was honestly one of the best I've ever had. Everything tasted delicious and fresh. It was so good! After lunch we headed back to the house so we could meet the girls on the bus.

Since Grandpa and Grandma planned to leave early the next morning, we decided to celebrate Mother's Day a little early so we could celebrate it with Connie instead of sending a gift to her. Both of the girls made her their own stories with drawings, and Sofia read her's to Grandma. CK wrote her a very thoughtful card that went along with two Yeti low mugs, which we figured they could use for coffee. Connie borrowed mine during our trip to Waco and really loved it, so I told CK about it and we got them for her so she could have her very own. She really liked everything and it was fun to celebrate with her.

On Friday morning I got the girls up a little early so we could have one last meal together. We had pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon together so they could have a solid meal before they started their drive back to Florida. As in every previous meal, the girls had to sight on either side of Grandma. They both love having their Grandpa and Grandma with them! The girls gave their final hugs and kisses to Grandpa and Grandma and I got them into the car to head to school. As we drove, Olivia sobbed and was so sad to have to say goodbye while Sofia said "Geez, we'll see them this summer, Olivia." They are such different girls. It was a really fun visit that went by too quickly!
