A Second Thanksgiving

On Friday morning, we met up with Aunt and Uncle at 8am and walked up to the Plaza Cafe for breakfast. Almost as soon as we left the casita, Olivia was complaining that she couldn't walk and needed a piggy back ride. CK gave her one for part of the walk and then she held hands with Uncle Steve until we made it to the Plaza Cafe. Sofia walked with Aunt Shirl and I and looked for other rocks to collect. The girls enjoyed pancakes and I had their breakfast burritos, which are my favorite while CK had the breakfast sandwich. I love Pasqual's Cafe for breakfast, but it's always so busy. After filling up on breakfast, we walked around the Plaza for a while and browsed in some of our favorite stores. Sofia loved trying on the various fur hats and scarves and we looked at gorgeous but overpriced knives for CK. We ended up walking back to the casita and relaxing for a while before we got ready to go up to Mike and Chris' house for a second Thanksgiving. The girls played with magic sand that Aunt and Uncle bought for them and they had fun making "ice cream" and cupcakes. Although it sticks together well, it also got all over the dining room carpet and was a bit messier than expected. It did entertain the girls for a long time though and they loved it.

In years past, we've spent Thanksgiving with them in their house that overlooks Santa Fe and has an amazing view. However, this year they were invited to someone's home, so we did Thanksgiving at Aunt and Uncle's casita. We brought the left over turkey and stuffing and Uncle Steve made a new dessert of nut and brown sugar-stuffed apples, which he grilled on the grill outside. We were originally supposed to meet at their house at 6pm, but changed it to 4pm since we didn't want to miss seeing Santa in the Plaza, like we've done every year we've visited Santa Fe.

Despite her lingering fever, Sofia headed straight outside with Olivia and ran around their grounds. Mike and Chris' house is on a hill with a lot of area to run and no fences or anything that can get in two little girls' way. They loved it and explored for much longer than I could have in the 40 degree weather. While the girls ran around, we got the full spread ready for dinner. Everything was just as delicious as yesterday, if not even better and it was fun to eat turkey once again. As soon as she was done eating, Olivia came to me and climbed into my lap and was asleep within minutes. I transferred her to their love seat, where she slept without moving for over an hour while we cleaned up! It was just what she needed since she's been getting a nap every afternoon and missed out today.

We lingered for awhile after dinner before loading up and heading to the Plaza to see the Christmas lights in the trees and meet up with Santa.
