Sofia's Last Day of School

June 5th is finally here!! Although I'm far more excited for summer to be here than Sofia is, I know once she can sleep in past 7am on Monday she will be very happy. The past few weeks I've asked her if she's excited and she always gives a half-hearted "yeah" knowing that's the right answer, but then adds that she'll miss Mrs. Patterson and seeing all of her friends. I think it's especially hard since Mrs. Patterson is retiring so Sofia can't swing by next year to give her a hug. But, I think she'll quickly fall into the relaxing summer routine.

This morning Sofia requested a new favorite snack - peanut butter, banana and honey on graham cracker. CK and I also gave her a little 'end of the school year gift' that included a dinosaur discovery book and the first three in the Magic Tree House series. I wasn't sure if Sofia would be ready to read a chapter book, or how long it might take her to read one, so we figured the first three might be a good start or might be set aside until later. Of course, she immediately starting looking through her new dinosaur book. She's become a dinosaur-crazed kid in the past few weeks. She was super excited about her gifts!

After breakfast, Sofia took the gift we'd made for Mrs. Patterson which I saw on Piterest. Sofia wrote "What will Mrs. Patterson do this summer?" and then inside she wrote "Read a good book," "Grab a cup of coffee," "Work in the garden," and "Take Mrs. Patterson out to dinner." Next to each we included a gift card. One the last page, Sofia wrote "Thank you so much for being a great teacher. Love Sofia" It turned out to be super cute and we're hoping Mrs. Patterson enjoys it.

We took pictures together of our soon-to-be-1st grader before we headed off to her final day of Kindergarden! Can't believe how quickly this year has gone!
