Dallas Arboretum with Grandma

After picking Sofia up from her first day of school, we all met up for lunch. Sofia's Grandma and I decided to go to the Dallas Arboretum for the afternoon to celebrate Olivia's birthday while CK and his Dad hung out and ran errands. Once we arrived at the Arboretum we really enjoyed our visit since it was basically empty! We started off our visit with a snack and iced tea then started walking around. It was pretty warm out, but not unbearable and we enjoyed seeing the Chihuly exhibit. Sofia and her Grandma explored the "native Texas" area that has a standing exhibit of a teepee, a covered wagon and a few early houses. Sofia particularly enjoyed climbing into the covered wagon and pretending that the "horses" were just about ready to leave and pull the wagon away.

We walked around the grounds and Sofia enjoyed showing her Grandma all of Chihuly's art. Plus, there weren't a lot of visitors so we were able to get great pictures. Olivia hung out in her stroller but we ended up taking her out since she was pretty hot and sweaty!

We finished our visit by going to "Toad Corner" which is a little splash area for the kids to play and get wet. I carry a change of clothes for both Sofia and Olivia in the car, so I let them both get as wet as they wanted, which was VERY wet! I'm sure it felt great though and they both had a great time. I know it was the highlight of Sofia's visit! After the girls cooled off, we returned to the car, changed the girls and drove home to celebrate Olivia's 1st birthday!
