Sofia's birthday party

Sofia's party started at 2:30pm Sunday and turned out to be a fun pool party (it only happened to be 104 degrees!). There were about 8 other kids which really made it fun and Sofia loved watching all the kids use the slide and swim. Sofia can say several words including Papa, Mama (although not always in reference to me), Bye-Bye, Baby (Bye- Bye and Baby being very similar to the untrained ear), and knows that a cow says "Moo" and a Sheep says "Baaa." She is also good at trying to say "Grandpa" with the cadence being perfect even if she can't quite say it clearly. She also loves to dance to music, bending her legs and bouncing up and down - it is so cute.

Sofia at 1 year!

Well, it really was a wonderful 1st birthday celebration with Grandmas and Grandpas in from Florida and California, Aunt Cynthia and Uncle Jay in from Atlanta, and many local friends and family celebrating the day with us. One year ago today.....

Our little birthday girl was born at 1051 am a year ago! Looking back over these pictures it is impossible to remember that she was EVER that small and helpless! Here is a little flashback....

One year ago....

It's hard to believe that just one year ago tonight we celebrated the impending arrival of Sofia (although she was a toss up between becoming an Ava or a Sofia at that time) with our parents and Uncle Steve (Aunt Shirl was out of town). It seems so long ago and we can't imagine what life was like without Sofia, yet we were all so excited to meet our new little one! Here are some pictures of that night....

Tonight, the parents (now Grandparents) are here with 7-month pregnant Cynthia and Jay. We enjoyed a similar meal to the one a year ago, but this time in anticipation of Sofia's first birthday tomorrow. Unfortunately, I didn't think to get a picture...

Uncle Steve and Sofia did some serious bonding this trip! Every time Uncle Steve came into the room, Sofia would nearly jump out of my arms and squeal with delight! They took walks down the stairs to the fountain and back, danced together, played peek-a-boo and hung out. It was great to see them enjoy each other so much. Sofia, Grayden and Aria ended up playing in Aunt and Uncle's fountain until all three were soaked. Sofia loves to stick her hand on the bubbling water and also move the rocks around. Here are some pictures:

Cupcakes!!

Grayden and Sofia enjoyed a birthday cupcake to signify the day. Sofia's first cupcake went down very easily! She kept grunting for more after the first one! Here are some pictures:
