Grandma and Grandpa Lee's Valentine

CK returned from spending the weekend with his family in Atlanta and was loaded with gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Lee! Sofia had such fun removing the tissue paper from Grandma and Grandpa Lee's Valentine's gift bag and took everything out before I could even take one picture! She LOVES the owl paper plates and we must be sure to ration them so we don't run out too quickly! She wore her heart tights and enjoyed a few M&Ms ('treats') on Monday.....

Penny Pincher..

The other day I needed to distract Sofia for a while, so I decided to empty the piggy bank on our kitchen counter so she could fill her piggy bank in her room. We fill the kitchen bank with loose change for Sofia's college fund. Anyway, Sofia had a great time dropping coins into her bank and I had to take pictures!

After the piggy bank pictures, we went out to run errands and Sofia put her own sunglasses on (she calls them "eyes"). I took this while I was driving because she is so cute!

Sofia's 18 month appointment

Yesterday Sofia had her 18 month pediatrician appointment and at 28 lbs and 33 inches, she is in the 80th percentile for weight and 95th for height! She's still a chatter box and has started to love what we call "playing shadows" which is basically moving our hands around and waving so we can watch our shadows. She also LOVES talking to and 'playing with' the reflection of herself in the window and mirrors. She still loves books and will spend a long time looking at books on her own. She is currently a big fan of Dumbo (it sounds more like "Gum Ball" when she says it). She also enjoys figuring things out herself, putting on my shoes and walking around, trying to make shapes fit, etc.

The Ft Worth Stock Show and Rodeo

On Saturday we all loaded up and went to the Ft Worth Stock Show for the rodeo! First, we went to the petting zoo. It was such fun and Sofia ran around with goats, chickens, and bunnies like she owned the place! It was funny to watch her push past the goats and other animals when she saw an animal she wanted to play with. No fear from our gal! Here are some pictures:

Goats, goats, everywhere!

The Rodeo - YEEEHAAAH!

After the petting zoo, we went to the rodeo! It was more fun than expected and we saw it all - bareback bronco riding, barrel racing, the calf scramble, roping, steer wrestling, and the grand finale, bull riding! It was all such fun and Sofia was fascinated! She especially liked to clap for each cowboy/cowgirl! She also loved the popcorn!

Getting ready for the next bucking bronco!

Sofia and Papa - can you tell how much she likes it - she isn't even looking at the camera, but watching the action!

Gardening!

When I was growing up, one of my very favorite memories was growing things from seeds - especially having an avocado seed perched in a glass of water until it sprouted, and having our huge garden to pull yummy vegetables from (except for all those zucchini, but I've made my peace with that!). So, after we enjoyed avocado on toast this morning (yes, she is my daughter - she LOVES it, unlike her Papa), we poked the avocado seed with toothpicks and put it in some water..... We then planted it in it's own pot.

Playing with the water!

Wiping the water on her shirt (she thinks her shirt is her little napkin)

All done, so where is that avocado tree?!
