Sofia at 121/2 Years Old!

Our girl is growing up so fast! I can't believe she will be a TEENAGER in six short months, although she does have a teenager-like attitude already from time to time, especially in the morning before school. I look back at photos from just a year or so ago and can NOT believe how much Sofia has changed and grown in that time. She is 5'6" and weighs 135 lbs! She's going to be as tall as I am in no time and probably taller than me before too long. She actually wears my clothes, including my workout leggings, jeans and long sleeve workout tops. My jeans aren't even overly big on her, although a size smaller would fit her better. Still, she's 12 years old! She's already been wearing my size 10 tennis shoes everyday to school since September. She wears a size 9, like I do, but she likes the feel of the size 10 better, just like I do. She, Olivia and Hannah have been taking tennis lessons with Mary at The Birch since September and she actually enjoys it and really has become quite good at it in a short amount of time. Of course, if it's below 55 degrees she has no interest in being out on the tennis court, but otherwise she enjoys it. She's planning to try out for the CTMS tennis team in a few weeks too! Of course, it is a no-cut sport, but she'll still get matches and learn a lot! I'm just so excited that she is interested in playing and wants to be on the team!

Sofia still plans to be a fiction writer when she grows up and is constantly reading! She still loves her dragons and fantasy and is drawn to all those first. She also loves to re-read books from time to time. Mr. Spitzburg, her Humanities teacher, is by far her very favorite teacher this year. Everyday, she comes home with a smile on her face and always tells me all about her day, but loves talking about what she did in Mr. Spitsburg class. They are currently reading and acting out Julius Ceasar and she has LOVED every minute of it. She has acted as Cenna in class and Mr. Fingers, the amazing CTMS Principal was "Ceasar" on the day they stabbed Ceaser. Sofia has also decided she wants to try out for this year's Beauty and the Beast at CTMS. I love that she is excited to try new things and wants to get out of her comfort zone! So cool and so unlike me at that age. She also joined the Students Standing Strong Christian group that meets on Fridays before or after school. She has gone every Friday after school since she joined and loves it. She absolutely loves school and comes home every day excited for all she did that day and tells stories about her friends and/or something great that happened in one of her classes. I love her enthusiasm and her desire to learn.

Sofia and I continue to enjoy volunteering with National Charity League (NCL) and it has proved to be a commitment, which we've had to prioritize. We've mainly helped out with VAST, but we've also helped with the Colleyville Holiday Celebration in early December. It was a really fun event, although I think Sofia would prefer to be there having fun with her friends than helping man the booth, but it was a good experience and something different.

Sofia definitely loves specific things to eat, including cheeseburgers, chicken fried rice and french toast, but she has also become a much more adventurous eater and is willing to try just about anything once. She also still loves to hang out in the house, preferably in her pjs with a book. She always enjoys activities, but usually drags her feet beforehand. She loves the lake and can spend hours riding on the inflatables. She also loves driving and riding on the jet ski. Sofia still loves to play with Olivia, on and off the trampoline and they generally play dragons or horses. It's very cute. They are excellent friends, which is great to watch and will be important as they become young adults. She's growing up so fast, but also still a kid!
