California: Day 3

We all enjoyed being together and catching up so much that we decided to meet at Corner Bakery at 8:30am. We figured it would be the best place to meet on Father's Day, since all the decent sit-down restaurants would probably full. It ended up being all my Aunts and Uncles, cousins and my brother Pancho, Julie and their three kids, along with us. Lucy and Leah realized the day before that they were just a few months apart in age and were immediate best buddies! It was so cute to watch them talk, check out their phones and hit it off despite never having met before. We sat outside and enjoyed a great breakfast and catch up. We said our goodbyes to Aunt Shirl and Uncle Steve who were heading to Santa Fe and also to Julie, who had to work on Monday. After we were done, the four of us returned to our hotel to nap and read before we had to take CK to the airport. I snuck out with my book and ate in the hotel restaurant while CK took the girls out to the pool to swim and cool off. It was actually 103 degrees, which is pretty unheard of in California and reminded us of Texas weather. The girls had a ball with CK and they swam and he threw them in the air over and over - one of their favorite things.

We took CK to the airport at 4pm and said our goodbyes. Unfortunately he had to work that week while we stayed in California and visited friends and amusement parks. After we returned to our hotel, we met up with Pancho and his kids and headed to the movies. We planned to watch Finding Dory at 6:30pm but soon found that the tickets were completely sold out until 10pm, since it was opening day of the movie! Instead we headed to a discount theater in Brea to watch Zootopia, which no one had seen. The tickets were only $4 each and the popcorn was refillable and delicious. We found our seats and Sofia wanted to sit with Lucy and they held hands walking into the theater together. They haven't seen each other in nearly six years and Sofia has no memory of Lucy and Lucy likely doesn't remember Sofia. It was great to watch them connect and have fun together. Olivia sat on my lap and really enjoyed the movie, which was very fun and well done.

After the movie, we returned to our hotel and said "good night" to Pancho, Max, Sam and Lucy and planned to meet up the next day around 9am to go to Knott's together. Unfortunately, I only took two photos since we didn't really do much.
