Winter (our elf) Returns!

Winter, our elf returned on December 1st! As she has in the past, she arrived hanging from ribbon from the dining room chandelier with a note to Sofia and Olivia. The note said she was excited to be back in their house and see them again and asked what their favorite part of the year so far has been. After school, Sofia wrote a letter to Winter and said her favorite part so far has been spending time with her family. I love that! Sofia was so super excited to have Winter back and along with the note was "The Elf on a Shelf: A Christmas Tradition" book, which Sofia immediately started reading to Olivia. I'm not sure if Olivia even remembers the story from last year, so it was good to hear the story once again. They both loved the story and having Winter back in the house!

Since her first day of arrival, Winter has had a lot of fun in the house. She has been found sitting on the saddle riding a brachiosaurus, sitting by the Christmas villages and even spent an evening making small gingerbread houses! Sofia has bounced out of bed every morning eager to find Winter's new hiding spot. She loves to see where she is and what she's been up to. Unfortunately, this morning when Winter was sitting around after her gingerbread house baking session, Sofia was sick with what we later found out was strep throat. She was still impressed with Winter's handiwork but was soon laying on the couch. Poor thing. Olivia enjoyed seeing what Winter was up to, but she isn't nearly as impressed and excited as Sofia is every morning. Olivia did wrap up one of Winter's little gingerbread houses and took it to school to give to Mrs. Schultz. Wonder what else Winter will do or other mischief she'll cause between now and Christmas!
