We woke up, grabbed a quick coffee and breakfast and packed up for our flight back to Lee Farms. There was a little area by the main clubhouse with local made goodies. I let both girls pick out one souvenir and Olivia picked a flower necklace and Sofia picked out a giraffe. We packed up our bags and got a ride to the airport. We were all sad to leave. Once at the airport, we loaded up the plane and headed out. After take-off, CK flew low as we went over FBV. As we flew past the creek, we actually saw Chip, Lisa and Charley on their ecotour! We waved and saw them wave back. It was pretty cool. After our buzz of FBV, CK went up to maybe 5,000 feet as we headed back toward Ft. Pierce. As we flew, the small islands that dot the area were gorgeous from the air. We also saw a cruise ship at a private island and lots of little sail boats and smaller ships. It's such an amazing view from that height!
We arrived at Ft. Pierce and grabbed lunch and gas and then continued on our way. CK had a great idea to fly up to Kennedy Space Center and see it from the air. He received clearance to fly at 100 feet over the Space Shuttle Runway! It was amazing! The runway is really long and huge, compared to what we are used to landing on. To the left of the runway there is replica of the Space Shuttle. Sofia LOVED it and was super excited to be so close and see what several astronauts have seen and experienced. Meanwhile, Olivia was fast asleep next to me. She actually had fallen asleep minutes before we arrived over the Kennedy Space Center. She slept until we arrived at Lee Farms.
After the flyover, we turned toward Ocala and Lee Farms. The flight was only about 30 minutes before we were landing. It was such an adventurous day, even though we spent most of it flying. What a fun visit to Cat Island! It was really the perfect Spring Break!
Back at the Baron, ready to go back to Lee Farms. Sad to go after such a fun week!
