After we were done with cake, it was Sofia's turn to open her presents. Before the girls got to the beach, Aunt Cynthia had taken Sofia to Target and told her she could pick out a gift for herself. She chose two really cool Star Wars Lego sets. She brought them to the beach and ended up playing with them a lot of the time, to the frustration of Olivia who wanted to play with her sister and not watch her as she played with the Star Wars toys. Sofia let her play in, but that wasn't good enough at times either.
The first gift Sofia chose to open was from Olivia. Sofia was with us when we stopped by Target and the toy store near Central Market to pick out her gift. We'd send Sofia to the far corner of the store so Olivia could pick something special out for her sister. It worked perfectly, especially at the toy store where they wrapped everything while we waited. Olivia gave her sister a lion stuffed animal, a pencil bag with candy design, Smelly markers and a small Lego set. Sofia opened her gift from Grandma and Grandpa and got a glow in the dark Star Wars shirt, a Palm Coast shirt to remember where she spent her 10th birthday, Star Wars stickers and a beach ball game set. They also gave Sofia a sweet birthday card that had $100 cash inside. Her reaction and smile on her face was priceless! She was SO excited to get cash and be able to spend it herself. She got a Lego Star Wars set from us and a mermaid tail and swimsuit to replace the one she got last year. Olivia got one too and they opened them together. Sofia also got the final book in the Land of Stories series that came out just a few weeks ago. I knew she'd be excited to be able to finish off the series.
Sofia's final present was one of her best....CK told her that we would be going to visit the Kennedy Space Center on Saturday! She was overjoyed! It was great! CK and I had talked about visiting Kennedy while we were at the beach, and finally decided it would make a great surprise for Sofia, so when he told her it was great to see how excited and happy she was to be able to go!
The girls went to bed after a really fun birthday celebration! It's hard to believe that we were at the hospital ten years ago with our brand new baby! The time has bone by so quickly and we can't wait to see what's in store for our smart, fun, interested non-conformist, book reading-obsessed girl in her future!
