Yesterday morning Sofia wondered why her Elf, Winter, hadn't come back to visit her through Christmas. Apparently an elf appeared in her classroom on Monday and they voted to name her Joy. But, that raised the question as to where her elf might be. I told her that maybe Winter would be arriving while she and Olivia were at school and I was out of the house. Sure enough, Winter did return wrapped up in ribbon hanging from the fireplace mantel. She had a note attached to her that read "Sofia and Olivia, I'M BACK! So happy to see you both! I'll try to stay out of trouble until Christmas. Remember not to touch me and to be good. Love, Winter." I'd picked Sofia up at school that day and taken her to her Girl Scouts meeting, so when she came in the house after her meeting she was overjoyed to see Winter. She was so excited to have Winter back, even as Olivia didn't really notice or care about Winter. Since then, Sofia has written several notes to Winter asking her questions and getting to know more about her. Apparently, Winter is friends with all of Sofia's friend's elves including Joy, Milani's elf, Rhinestone, Allen's elf Tommy, Clementine's elf Helper and Isabella's elf Sparkle. Her favorite Christmas song is Jingle Bells, her favorite color is remand greensand knows Santa and all the reindeer really well. Her favorite season is Winter (or course) and she really wishes she could talk and play with Sofia and Olivia. Her birthday is June 27th, one month before Sofia's and 2 months before Olivia's. Her favorite animal is a giraffe and her favorite Christmas cookie shape is a star. Plus, she apparently can be held briefly by an adult in an emergency. Sofia was very worried after Annie picked up Winter and moved her around that Winter might have been hurt.
Sofia's alarm wakes her up at 6:35 and she is dressed and downstairs looking for Winter less than 10 minutes later. She loves to find her and see what she's been up to in the night. Meanwhile, Olivia barely notices or just doesn't really care where Winter is and what she's up to. It's funny how differently they see Winter and it is sweet to watch Sofia's enthusiasm.
