Last night was Olivia's Spanish Schoolhouse Christmas show. We had grand plans to go together and then go out to dinner after her show, however, our plans changed when Sofia came down with a 103.5 fever starting on Wednesday after school which lasted through today. Thinking it is likely the flu, we decided that CK would stay home with Sofia and I would take Olivia to her show. Although Olivia's teachers have been telling me every time I pick her up from school that she was doing "great" at the dance practice, we were a bit skeptical as to whether she would get up on stage in front of all the parents, students and friends and dance her little heart out or run off stage for her mommy. She's a lot more shy around others than Sofia was at that age and still is.
I dropped her off with her teachers for her to get ready for the show and then found my seat with parents of Sofia's former classmate and friend, Mattheus. Juan and Maria and really great people and their youngest is now in the 2 year old class. It was fun to sit with them and catch up since it's been quite a while since I'd seen them. The show started and despite me waving to Olivia, she never saw me in the audience. The show starts with the 2 year old class, who all did a great job and no one cried or ran off the stage! The director said it was the first time ever! Soon it was Olivia's class' turn and I was shocked to see her right in the front center of the stage! That spot is reserved for the most exuberant dancers and I was surprised that Olivia was there! She climbed onto the stage and was totally comfortable up there, swishing around and completely ready to dance!
The first song was great and the whole class did a fantastic job with Olivia really shining! She was really into it and danced her best! The second song she was moved into the back row to give another kiddo a chance at the front, but still danced her little heart out! She was great and was obviously having a fun time up there! I bought the DVD for the show since CK and Sofia couldn't attend the actual performance and we look forward to watching it once we get it.
After Olivia's performance, her class sat back down and the other classes performed. Then, all the classes went onto the stage to sing Feliz Navidad and dance and sing to Jingle Bell Rock. After the performance, I picked up Olivia who was so excited and had a great time! I told her how much fun it was to watch her perform and what a great job she did. We returned home to Sofia and Papa and told them all about the show. We ate Papa John's pizza and the girls went to bed.
Mrs. Lynn introduces the 3-year old performers with Olivia in the center to Mrs. Lynn's left
And the music begins
Our little dancer
She's was really into it
With her dance partner
Shaking it in the back
Look at her go!
The final songs with the entire school
Just before picking her up - she finally saw me!
