After we cleaned up and put food away, we sent the guys out to hide the Easter eggs while we let the kids eat dessert. We figured they would be distracted with dessert and not notice where all the eggs were being hidden. Plus, I'd invited Marco, Stacy, Antonio and baby Luca over to do the Easter egg hunt and they planned on arriving at 3pm, so we had to wait for them to arrive. They came over and met everyone just as the eggs were in place, so the kids got their Easter baskets and got ready! CK told them the rules and shouted out "Ready, Set, GO!" and they took off! We made the patio area only for the little ones - mainly Antonio and Olivia but Chloe could also search the area too. Oliver and Brandon took off and headed behind the pool and the girls followed, which I wish I would have told them to go toward the garage or start from the other side of the pool. Since the boys are a lot older and faster they gathered up the majority of the eggs. Everyone was happy and they all had fun so it really didn't matter, but I think I'd do it differently next year.
Meanwhile, CK helped Olivia look for eggs and she was much more interested in opening each one up as she gathered it rather than putting them into her basket to open later. She loved it though and thought it was amazing to find a colored egg next to the planter, on the lounge chair, etc! Wow! It was super cute to watch her! Antonio had absolutely no interest in looking for eggs and went straight for the blue truck and school bus which he played with instead. Soon, he and Olivia were playing in the sandbox together or pushing the blue trucks around the patio.
The older kids finished up and started opening their eggs. I put $1 in about 10 eggs and included stickers and little toys in other eggs. Most contained candy and the chocolate candy had started to melt already. It was warmer out than expected! As the kids played and opened their eggs, the adults started in on dessert and coffee and we all sat outside in the shade. It was a lovely day and a very fun group to enjoy Easter with. It was so relaxing and we all had great visits with each other!
