We had such a fun time in Ft Collins and we really did a lot in the few days we were there. After we arrived and got settled in, Uncle Eric gave us a tour of their new, beautiful house. Then we relaxed outside before we headed into downtown Ft Collins for Mexican food. The downtown is adorable and we were also able to spend some time in an amazing toy store that must have had every toy ever made!
On Friday Aunt Shirl and Uncle Steve arrived as did Uncle Roger and Aunt Kathy. Before they arrived, CK and I were able to slip away while Aunt watched the girls and grab a nice meal outside in the pleasant weather. We also did a little shopping together which was fun and also necessary given that it was forecast to be in the 60s that night and the next day. That night my Aunt and Uncle hosted a shower for my cousin Chris and his fiance Jackie, so we all were busy preparing for that. Before everyone arrived Sofia and her cousins had the best time dancing on the front porch. She loved dancing with Lincoln, and her buddy Leah. It ended up being a lovely party, even though it was a bit chilly out.
Saturday morning, Uncle Steve made a big batch of pancakes and we enjoyed eating and catching up. Leah and Sofia were off to swim and play in the tree house as soon as their bellies were full. Sofia would only eat whatever Leah would eat, which was funny since Leah always chose different foods than Sofia normally likes. She really loved being with Leah and they played so well together, especially since Leah is 9 years old and Sofia not quite 5. That afternoon, Chris and Jackie opened their wedding gifts from everyone and Jackie modeled her beautiful wedding dress (without Chris there, of course). They are getting married in November in St. Lucia and none of us are able to attend.
Saturday night we made kabobs which turned out amazing! We played Catch Phrase, which ended up being fun and silly, of course. It was also a bittersweet day since it was the second anniversary of Mom's death and I felt like she was always just in the other room the entire time we were there. Her siblings remind me so much of her and I've never been with my Aunts and Uncles when she hasn't been there. I miss her terribly and wish she were there with us. I hope we are able to get together regularly because they are so much fun and it's great to be around them since they remind me so much of her.
