On Thursday evening we enjoying an evening at the Fort Worth Stock Show's rodeo! We've been very lucky to be given tickets every year by one of CK's clients who provides us with six box seats right on the arena and a rock star parking lot about 50 feet from the arena entrance! It's pretty incredible! Before heading to the rodeo, Marcie and her daughter, Sophie, came over to our house at 5pm to have bbq ribs, brisket, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw, and green beans that CK picked up from Pappa's BBQ on his way home from work. We figured it was a lot easier to eat at our house before the rodeo than trying to figure something out in Fort Worth.
After dinner, we headed into Fort Worth and parked in the great parking lot and headed to our seats. Thankfully we arrived before the rodeo started, since it is the best part and I look forward to it each January! Sofia, Sophie and Olivia sat in the front row while the three of us adults sat just behind them. They are such spectacular seats and we were all ready for the fun to begin. As usual, the beginning of the rodeo didn't disappoint as the ladies carrying the flags that have flown over Texas and various officials, including the Fort Worth mayor, rode into the ring. The national anthem was sung and the rodeo started! The lights dimmed briefly and Olivia asked if the rodeo was over already. I assured her that it was just beginning and she was very happy to hear that! We watched the bronc riding, calf roping, barrel racing, team roping, and bull riding. Unfortunately, there was no mutton bustin' or calf scramble, two of my very favorite events! It was a great rodeo and lasted a full two hours! Toward the end, Olivia was done and cuddled with CK until the end. Of course, the girls all enjoyed a bag of cotton candy about halfway through the rodeo and ate it up.
After the rodeo ended, we took a few photos and then headed home. We didn't make it back until around 10:30pm and we said our goodbyes and the girls went to bed.
