Off to Santa Fe for Thanksmas

We headed to Santa Fe on Tuesday morning, which was a rare treat since we usually head off on Wednesday morning and Thanksmas seems to fly by. CK had a breakfast appointment with a client on Wednesday morning, so we were excited to spend an extra day with Aunt and Uncle in Santa Fe. Our flight to Santa Fe was comfortable although it became pretty bumpy about 30 minutes before we arrived in Santa Fe and once we were on the ground, we found it to be fairly windy. It was sunny and in the 40s, but felt much warmer with the warm sun on us. We loaded up our rental car with all the things we brought for Thanksgiving and for gifts that we planned to exchange on Saturday night.

We made it to Aunt and Uncle's casita and were happy to see them as we unloaded our clothes and things into the casita behind them, where we have stayed numerous times before. We unpacked and CK set up the girls' bed from the couch in the guest room and then we joined Uncle Steve and Aunt Shirl and their friend as they tried to test fly their drone that they got from Uncle Roger. Despite a number of attempts, reading and re-reading of the directions and a phone call to the company, the drone never left the ground. Unfortunately, it was missing a critical sensor for the controller to communicate with the drone. The girls were really excited to watch the activity at first, but soon gave up and headed inside where they colored, played with their pony and princess toys they brought with them. Olivia was also really excited to see little patches of snow in Aunt and Uncle's front patio in the shade. She kept saying that she wanted to eat snow during our visit and I told her that she should if we make it into the mountains for a hike, as we usually get a chance to do.

After the drone adventures, we relaxed a little bit before heading to Maria's for some delicious Mexican/Southwestern food. The girls were excited to get shirley temples with their quesadilla and chicken dinners and colored and played while we talked and caught up. After dinner, we headed home and the girls were asleep quickly, despite both having taken naps on the plane. Sofia actually has had a fever around 100-101 since Saturday, so we were glad she was able to sleep. She kept saying she feels fine and hasn't complained or had any other symptoms but know sleep is important.
