We made it back to Marathon and both girls woke up as we parked in front of the Gage Hotel. CK took the girls into Johnny B's for milk shakes. After, we headed back to our room and the girls played in the backyard of the historic house while CK and I took showers, relaxed and read. After a bit, we rounded up the girls and got them into the shower so we could meet Tex in Alpine for dinner and then go up to his house to watch the sunset.
We met Tex at Alicia's Mexican Restaurant and it was great to see Tex and enjoy a meal together! After dinner, we drove into a gated community that has beautiful homes set on 50 to 100 acres. Just after we drove through the gate, we saw a few deer and then we saw four javelinas! I'd been really wanting to see javelinas since we arrived in West Texas, since they are only in this part of Texas, Mexico and New Mexico. They were much smaller and darker than I expected. I figured they would be brown so they could blend in with the surrounding, but they are black and really cute. We continued on and made it to Tex's house which was at the very top and is gorgeous! He and his wife bought their Alpine house a year ago and have done a lot of work on it and it's beautiful. We sat out on his front porch and watched as the sun went down. The view was honestly breathtaking and it changed every minute as the light changed. I think I probably took over 50 pictures, but tried to just add one or two here. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Sitting at the top of a hill overlooking Alpine, there isn't a lot of background noise and it was so refreshing to be surrounded by quiet. As we enjoyed the sunset, Sofia and Olivia ran around the outside of the house and played 'horses.' After the sun was fully gone, we said our goodbyes to Tex and drove back to Marathon.
