Frequent Flyer

Today, during Sofia's nap I reserved airline tickets for upcoming trip to California and registered for her very first American Airlines Aadvantage card! Now that's she's two she'll be flying in her own seat from now on so I figured she should have her own frequent flier card to collect miles. After CK got home from work, he set up her first email account - sofiaylee@gmail.com. Obviously she won't be pecking out any emails anytime soon (hopefully), but it is a great way to keep track of all of her upcoming online events, such as airline tickets, etc!

Ready, Go!!

Sofia new favorite, although she first started doing it some time ago, is to jump off the curb. She is really trying to jump and loves to step up onto something and then say "Ready, Go" and jump to the ground. When we go out to get the mail she will spend all afternoon jumping off the curb if I let her. She gets the "Ready, Go" from swim class where that is the sign for Sofia to hold her breath and go under.

Dallas Farmer's Market

Today Sofia and I headed into downtown Dallas to visit the Farmer's Market, which is quite a bit larger than I expected. It was a great first visit since Mondays are the slowest days according to all the vendors I talked to and it was easy to see everything and plan our next visit. One entire barn was dedicated to local farmers and we ended up walking through that and buying yummy produce, after sampling most of it! One of the coolest things we bought was a basket of "Eight Ball Squash" which are perfectly round zucchinis! I'm planning on stuffing and baking them tomorrow for dinner. We look forward to our next visit to the Farmer's Market and can't wait to dig into our fresh produce from today!

Before the Farmer's Market visit we returned our books to the library and checked out new ones - here is our glamour girl walking to the library

Her very favorite thing - jumping off the curb. She says "Ready, Go" then jumps off, turns around and steps back up while saying "Do it again." She'll do this all day long if she could!

Yum! Sofia snacks on some samples

Orange slice in one hand, peach in the other

All shopped out. The round zucchini are right behind her on the table.

Sofia wanted to ride the "horse" but we went for a picture instead.

Blue Pig BBQ

On Saturday, CK flew us to Ardmore, Oklahoma, home of the famous Blue Pig BBQ (It is actually rated as best BBQ in Oklahoma and was pretty tasty!!). It was about a 45 minute flight and Sofia hung out, read her books, played with the vent on the air conditioner unit CK has in the back of the plane (VERY necessary in August!) and looked outside. She kept her headset on for about 15 minutes, but she was mainly interested in listening to Papa talk and then took up with singing "Wheels on the Bus" into the microphone. After, she took it off and never wanted it on again.

The Blue Pig BBQ is actually on the airport and the food was excellent. Even Sofia, who almost always turns her nose up to meat, ate some of our pulled pork. Her only other meat eating has been the bbq chicken from the Feed Store BBQ near our house and sushi. In fact, on Friday night we went to our favorite sushi place and Sofia ate her first raw fish. She ate her regular of Edamame, California rolls as well as Egg sushi, but also gobbled down two pieces of raw tuna from the tuna roll!

After lunch Saturday, we flew back home. The flight was very quickly and a little bumpy due to the heat, but otherwise it was relaxing to be up in the Baron again.

Sofia's Bedroom

Since we are on the verge of upgrading Sofia's bedding to a "big girl bed" I thought I should take some pictures of her Texas bedroom, since I haven't done so since we moved in. So here is her room with the crib in it and hopefully we will soon have a big girl bed instead of a crib!

Her crib

The changing table - hopefully this won't be in the room much longer, but we haven't really focused on potty training yet.....

Sofia's new dresser! I found it on Craigslist and had it refinished then added unique knobs - it's adorable and fits perfectly in her room.

Her books and toys - this is the neatest it ever is! Usually there are books scattered all over the floor.

All of her crib friends. She sleeps with all these animals as well as Green Beup-Beup and Striped Green Beup-Beup, who get out of the crib with her in the morning. Sometimes if I forget to get them out with her she'll go looking for them and ask me to get them for her. They are her absolute favorite buddies.

A Day in the Life.....

I wanted to capture another "day in the life" of Sofia and picked last Thursday, which was her last day of tumbling class and also included a lot of stuff we do regularly. So on Thursday we get ready, Sofia has her regular sippy cup of chocolate milk and then we head to her tumbling class which starts at 9am. Usually we share a breakfast granola bar in the car and she has a cup of Cheerios that she can dip into, but this morning we made a stop at Dunkin Donuts which is on the way. She LOVES the donut holes and I love their coffee (and toasted coconut donut), so we are both happy.

Munching on her Dunkin Donuts donut hole -yum!

On the balance beam - her favorite. At tumbling we warm up, stretch, Sofia jumps on the mat (her other favorite), then we are free for about 20-25 minutes to do whatever each kid wants. Sofia heads to the balance beam, but also loves the spring ramp and the obstacle course.

She can really move across the balance beam when she holds onto my hand. She doesn't really use me for balance much but I think it is reassuring. When I let go, she giggles and starts to loose her focus. She loves going on the tall balance beam (just behind her) and I don't take my hand away for that!

After class she likes to find various things (including old soda tops, etc) and carry it around. This morning she found a rock and a nice stick. Usually we walk over to the park and she plays while I drink coffee and read the paper, but this morning she didn't want to go, so we loaded back into the car and went about our day.

At our dry cleaners - she loves to wear my sunglasses, which is funny. Luckily the dry cleaner has a little metal frog that she plays with and carries around while I pick up/drop off laundry.

After lunch we went to the gym - she to kid care and I to a yoga class. Now that she's two she stays in the 'big kid' area which is a little overwhelming but she hasn't looked back. I asked if she wanted to be in the small kid area (where she used to go) and she said 'no,' climbed out of my arms and bolted for the fun of the climbing gym! Crazy kid! I returned to find her with a completely soaked shirt and was told that she had found the water fountain. Here she is on our way out.....one last sip!

Her usual play time on the bike rack - she does this every time we leave the gym and it's a great way for me to get her headed toward our car.

After her nap, we decided to go for a ride on her "happy birthday tricycle" to visit the cows across the street and pick up our neighbor's mail (I'm house sitting for him) and our mail. Sofia received a new bell and safety belt from Alice, Joe and Grayden and she was busy ringing the bell as I pushed!

Visiting the cows. We were hoping the calf would be interested in meeting Sofia, but he bolted then stopped and stared at us. Sofia reached through the fence and kept saying "Come here, cow" over and over, but no luck.

As usual, we went swimming (she usually goes with CK, but he was working late). She first had to check our plants and wear her brand new cowgirl boots that she got the day before from Aunt and Uncle! They are awesome and she struts around like a cowgirl! She tries to put them on and take them off herself which is usually frustrating for her, especially when I help out.

Swimming! She loves the water and scoots around like an old pro with her water wings or swim vest. She also likes me to take them off and swim without and we practice our skills from swim class.

After dinner, Papa takes our tired girl to her room for story time and bed......

Engrossed in a book. Her favorite part of the day! She loves to be read to and her books and snuggles up with her Papa before going to bed.

Sofia's Sears Photos

Here are the best of Sofia's two year old pictures that we took at Sears. She was a real ham and seemed to have a lot of fun. I love that she now has all of her teeth (finally) so her smile is so cute!
