Returning to Dallas

On Monday we said goodbye to the Thain family (after trying to convince them to visit us in Texas), as well as Cynthia, Jay and Connie and returned home. We can't imagine how much baby Lee Mathis will change by the time we see them all again.

Luckily we had a tail wind and made it back to Addison in just over 31/2 hours and ended up not stopping for any breaks. It went by quickly, probably because Sofia took a long nap so it was a little like old times and I was able to read while CK flew.

Sofia in the past day or two has started calling me "Mommy" instead of Mama, which is absolutely adorable. She almost seems to be testing it out because she'll say it several times to watch my reaction.

Sofia and Her New Cousin

On Sunday afternoon, we drove to Cynthia and Jay's house where we meet with Connie and waited to welcome the new family home. It was such a great experience to be there to welcome them all and they were all so happy and excited (well, except for Chandler, who slept through the entire event!). Jay and Cynthia also entrusted Sofia with holding Chandler, while sitting on the couch of course, and she was so adorable holding him and touching his ear, nose, eye, hand and then patted his belly. She really was very gentle and sweet. They were so adorable together.

Halloween!

After visiting baby Lee Mathis and his new parents and Grandparents at the hospital, we drove out to Ruel and Melanie Thain's, CK's cousin, to eat delicious chili and then go trick-or-treating. After dinner, we dressed our little monkey and got ready to go out!

Trick-or-Treat!

We headed out into Melanie and Ruel's neighborhood (Ruel stayed home to hand out candy) and Sofia held her own with Devon and Haley, aside from being carried between houses. After a few houses Sofia was able to say "trick-or-treat" pretty well, which was really cute. She lasted about 6 or 7 houses before CK took our little monkey back to Ruel and Melanie's house for a story and bed. She seemed to really have fun though and we enjoyed the spoils of her collection!

Meeting Sofia's cousin for the first time

We arrived in Atlanta in the afternoon and went straight to Peidmont Hospital to meet Sofia's cousin, see how Cynthia and Jay were doing and see Connie and CK Sr, the new grandparents. Sofia kept pointing and saying "baby" and waving "hi" to him, which was cute. She was very interested in him, except when Grandma was holding him - then Sofia was very interested in having her Grandma hold her! Otherwise, she was very interested in baby Lee Mathis!

Flying to Atlanta

On Halloween, we loaded up the Baron and flew to Atlanta to meet Cynthia and Jay's brand new baby boy. It took us just over 41/2 hours to get to Atlanta, including a fuel stop in Fordyce, Arkansas (aside from a gas pump and a small room with a bathroom and sodas for 50 cents under the honor system, there wasn't a whole lot around). During the flight, Sofia played and looked through her books and some of my magazines and ended up napping for a while before we arrived.

The real reason we own the Baron! Look at all that stuff and it's only a long weekend!!
